WALNUT 4/4 PAGE 2 NEXT PAGE PREVIOUS PAGE
We decide to cut a board from this face. The grain is good and no knots. We drop from 12" to 10-13/16". Think of the kerf as 3/16, and the board as 1". So we opened the log at 12". drop to 11" and drop one kerf, ( another 3/16".) This will make a board that is 1-1/16 thick,(4/4 lumber.) The resulting board will need to be edged later and is called a flitch. Set the freshly cut flitch aside. Now go to the next page.
