BACK TO PHOTO JOURNAL MAIN PAGE Mark's first Mission trip into the Amazon, to repair sawmills and train workers. What a 'hot place'. Mark and Rita go deep into the Amazon to repair sawmills and train workers. Mission trip. We took a lot of photos of this special place. We recommend staying at the town near Machu Picchu for a couple nights, at least. The air is clean and no auto traffic and noise. It is a great place to regenerate. This gives you a chance to take the first bus in the morning to the ruins and have them almost all to yourself, until about ten o'clock. We took a local bus to Pisac for three dollars each, and hiked from town to the ruins. This is much better than going by tourist bus. Walking out of the valley to the site was great. The trail starts behind town and costs a little, but worth it. Take a picnic lunch. I think the market at Pisac is on Thursdays. |
