Now turn the remaining piece of quarter to the best face and continue as above. Use your own judgment as to how many boards to make. In this case, three boards will finish up this quarter. It is possible on good butt logs to recover turning squares from the remaining piece of waste.

Now repeat the above steps with each quarter, one at a time. Look for the best face and turn this face down. Cut your boards off the bottom, turn to the next face and cut your boards off the bottom.
