 For 14"-16" logs, I take two primary boards. For a 19" log like in the photo, I can make three primary boards from the center. Now, drop your blade to the center of the pith. In this case it is 9-1/2". I am taking three primary boards, so the pith will be in the middle of the central board. I raise my blade to 11-3/8" for my first cut.
