QUARTER-SAWING INSTRUCTIONS PAGE 1 NEXT PAGE PREVIOUS PAGE It is important to quarter-saw only the very best quality of Oak, red or white. The center of the log must be in the center, the growth rings perfectly round, and a minimum of knots and defects, and a minimum size of 14 inches inside the bark. This is a 19" log from a dead tree brought in by a customer who wants us to Quarter-Saw. The quality of the log is not the best, but it made some good lumber. We made 350 board feet of quarter-sawed lumber from 2 logs from one tree.
