If so, the clamp needs to be cleaned, or the spring tension adjusted if the clamp is cleaned and the problem still exists. The blade must be hard to move by hand for the clamp to grip the blade properly for no movement to occur during automatic sharpening. If the blade can slip in the clamp, bad things will happen.

Scrape going both ways. Then blow out the blade track with the clamp spread open.
