Unclamp and roll the log towards clamp by hand. This is faster than turning with hydraulics. (Small logs only)

Turn the log so the cut flat face is down. Close the clamp. Now I am sawing at 6-3/8". I use 6-3/8" because this works out to four pieces of nominal thickness 2X6's, (1-1/2"), and the kerfs, (1/8"), needed. (1-1/2" + 1/8"+ 1-1/2" + 1/8" + 1-1/2" + 1/8" +1-1/2") = First cut at 6-3/8", second cut 4-3/4", third cut 3-1/8", last cut 1-1/2".

But don't cut any more right now, we will square the log first.
