Turn the log so the cut flat face is down. Close the clamp. Now I am sawing at 6-3/8". I use 6-3/8" because this works out to four pieces of nominal thickness 2X6's, (1-1/2"), and the kerfs, (1/8"), needed. (1-1/2" + 1/8"+ 1-1/2" + 1/8" + 1-1/2" + 1/8" +1-1/2") = First cut at 6-3/8", second cut 4-3/4", third cut 3-1/8", last cut 1-1/2". But don't cut any more right now, we will square the log first. |
